Our ESL Programs are designed to support non-native English speakers at every stage of their language learning journey — from building a solid foundation to refining advanced skills and achieving their target IELTS score. Through personalized instruction, interactive learning, and a focus on all four core language skills — speaking, listening, reading, and writing — students progress with confidence in a supportive and flexible environment.

Program Introduction

 Vancouver Churchill College offers three levels of ESL programming, each building upon the last:

ESL Foundation

Targets learners at all proficiency levels who need a strong, practical introduction to English. The program covers essential language skills alongside cultural insights and regular progress assessments, equipping students to communicate effectively in real-life situations.

ESL Upgrading

Designed for intermediate and advanced learners looking to refine their existing skills. With an emphasis on advanced grammar, vocabulary expansion, and complex language structures, students develop the fluency needed to navigate both formal and informal settings with confidence.

ESL IELTS Test Prep

Prepares students specifically for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination. Through targeted practice exercises, mock tests, and individualized feedback, experienced instructors guide students in mastering exam format, time management, and effective answering techniques.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 By completing these programs, students will:

  • Develop and strengthen speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
  • Gain confidence communicating in diverse real-life, social, and professional contexts
  • Build the advanced language competence needed for further academic or career pursuits
  • Achieve their desired IELTS score and unlock new academic and professional opportunities
  • A language placement test will be administered to determine the appropriate level of program entry.
  • Any applicants under 19 years of age require parental permission, as indicated on the application form.
  • The approximate equivalent to other English evaluation tests may include Cambridge ESOL, Canadian Language Benchmarks, EF, TOEIC, IELTS, TOEFL and Track Test (CEFR) and similar.
